How to start a remote support session

Download the tool

Click the blue button below. A small, safe file will download to your computer. It's free and doesn't install anything permanent.

Open the file you downloaded

Look at the bottom of your web browser, or open your Downloads folder, and double-click the file (its name starts with “SplashtopSOS”). If Windows asks “Do you want to allow this app to make changes?”, click Yes or Run — that's completely normal and safe.

Read us your 9-digit code

A small window will open showing a 9-digit code. Simply read that number out loud to your CompTSS technician on the phone. That code is what lets us connect — and only you can give it to us.

We connect and take care of it

That's it! We'll do the rest. You'll see everything we do on your screen the whole time, and you can end the session at any moment by closing the window. Nothing stays behind on your computer.

Your privacy is protected

We can only connect when you invite us with your one-time code — never on our own. You watch the whole session on your own screen, and the connection ends the instant you close the app. The tool leaves nothing installed and can't reconnect later without a new code from you.

It's usually at the bottom of your web browser right after you click the button, or in your Downloads folder. To open Downloads on Windows, press the Windows key, type Downloads, and press Enter. Look for a file whose name starts with “SplashtopSOS” and double-click it.

That's normal — Windows asks before running any downloaded program. Choose Yes, Run, or Keep. Our remote support tool is safe and only works while it's open and you've shared your code with us.

No problem — just let your technician know. This button downloads the Windows version, and we'll send you the correct tool for your Mac.

It's safe, and no — we can never connect on our own. A session only works while the app is open and you've read us your one-time code. The moment you close the window, the connection ends and can't be reopened without a brand-new code from you.
